The Howard Family

Brett and I grew up together on the same block. I distinctly remember finding my way through the gardens and backyards of neighbours that connected our houses. We would take turns jumping off his garage, or see how we could injure ourselves on his tire swing shaped like horse. On rainy days we would colour and draw. I remember being very frustrated at Brett’s unchained imagination. I was focused on creating things that looked correct, Brett would just create. I have a deep respect for Brett because he taught me something about creativity that I didn’t understand until I was much older; never stifle your creativity for what others may think of it.

Brett and his lovely wife recently had a baby boy, and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to photograph them.
